CMA Nominees

Today the nominees were announced for the Country Music Association Awards, which takes place this year on November 10th in Nashville.  The Country Music Association (CMA) was founded in 1958 in Nashville, Tennessee.  The association has 223 members who work to promote country music.  The CMA hosted its first award show in 1967 in Nashville and the first CMA Award Show was televised in 1968.  The CMA's have 12 award catergories for the country artists to compete in and usually have 5 nominees for each category.  There are also 9 awards given to the radio stations that play the country music.  The winners for each cateogory are voted on by business members of the Country Music Association.

The major award for the CMA is Entertainer of the Year, which in 1967 was awarded to Eddy Arnold and last year was awarded to Taylor Swift.  The two other major awards is Top Male Vocalist and Top Female Vocalist.
