Country Musicians Crossover as Actors

Have you seen the Blind Side or Flicka?  Did you know that not only is Tim McGraw the leading actor in the those movies,  but is also a famous country musician.  There have been many country musicians that have also tried their hands at acting.

In this blog we will talk about the male country singers that have took a chance at acting.  The first actor/singer that we will cover is Tim McGraw.  Tim first started acting by guest appearing for an episode on The Jeff Foxworthy Show.  After that his acting career took off with Tim starring in Friday Night Lights, Flicka, The Kingdom, Four Christmases, The Blind Side, Country Strong and his latest movie is Dirty Girl.

The next male actor/singer is Toby Keith.  Toby started acting in 2005.  So far he has only made two movies, Broken Bridges and Beer for My Horses, but I have high hopes for his acting career as I liked both movies that he starred in.

The next singer/actor is Waylon Jennings.  Waylon was not much of an actor, but he was most known for being the balladeer for the Dukes of Hazzard. Waylon did make a guest appearance in one Duke's episode after many requests from fans.  Waylon also recorded the theme song for the show.

Now we come to Clint Black.  Clint started a bit of acting in 1994 on the show Maverick.  He then went to start in the movies Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack, Going Home, Anger Management, and his latest movie Flicka 2.

Next, Willie Nelson is also a crossover of singing and acting.  Willie has had a great success of being an actor.  He has starred in many movies and guest starred in many television shows.  Some of the more known shows and movies that Willie has been in are Monk, Where the Hell's That Gold?, Half Baked, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning, Broken Bridges, and Beer For My Horses.

Now we will discussed the singer/actor Billy Ray Cyrus.  Billy Ray started acting in 1999 with a role in Radical Jack.  He then had a few film roles and a role in a stage production of Annie Get Your Gun.  Billy also was a guest star in many television shows like Diagnosis Murder, The Nanny, and Love Boat.  In 2005, Billy landed a role on Hannah Montana acting beside his daughter Miley Cyrus.  Then in 2006, Billy Ray joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars, which he was eliminated in the eight week of the show.  Billy's last movie role was in The Spy Next Door.

The next country singer/actor we will cover is Dwight Yoakam.  Dwight has a role in many movies with his first role in Terminator 2: Judgement Day in 1991.   He has since then starred in many movies like Sling Blade, The Minus Man, Panic Room, Hollywood Homicide, Wedding Crashers, Four Christmases, and his latest movie being Provinces of Night.

The last male country singer/artist we will cover is George Strait.  George started acting in 1982 with a small role in The Soldier.  Then he started in the 1992 film Pure Country.  Since then, George has not done too much acting but has been in an episode of King of the Hill and is working on a new movie called A Pure Country Gift.
