CMA Performances

Since I told you the about who won the awards at the CMAs, it is time to let you know who performed at the award show. They started the show off with Carrie Underwood singing “Songs like This” and Keith Urban and Brad Paisley playing instrumentals. This song was really fun with the guys playing the backups for Carrie and I loved Keith Urban on the banjo. After first award Leighton Meester from the movie Country Strong welcomed Taylor Swift to the stage to perform “Back to December”. This song was neat because Taylor stayed and played piano the whole time she was singing the song and it was snowing on the stage. Then, Miranda Lambert came out to sing the fun upbeat song “That’s the Way That the World Goes ‘Round”. This was a good song to sing after Taylor’s song since it was so upbeat and fast. The crowd at the award show seems to enjoy it too. Now it was time for Blake Shelton to sing his song “All About Tonight” which was fun to hear and to see Blake back in his country looking clothes instead of the suit he was wearing to come into the show. Then Keith Urban came on stage to sing “ Put You In a Song”, which was a pretty good song, considering that I do not like Keith Urban’s music very much lately.

We came to the part of the show, where King George (George Strait) came on stage to sing his newest song “The Breath You Take”, which I enjoyed immensely because it was a beautiful song. Now to come to the stage is my roommate’s favorite singer Kenny Chesney with his latest hit “Boys of Fall” which was fun because they included part of his music video in the performance. Then came Zac Brown Band and Alan Jackson performing “As She’s Walking Away”, which is a song that I have come to love because it is so beautiful. Then was the weird portion of the performances. Sugarland was performing their current single “Stuck Like Glue”, but they came out on stage Nettles was wearing what looked like a tutu and was stuck on a stand. But as the song progress, Nettles came off the stand and finished the song. Everyone was happy with the song though some were sad she didn’t have on the one piece jumpsuit.

Then we have Reba McEntire that came out and sing Beyonce’s “If I Were a Boy”, which I thought was really weird for a country singer to sing and even weirder for Reba to sing because to me she is just older country. Next was Kid Rock singing “Born Free”, which was in Kid Rock’s crazy style but good. After Kid Rock, it was time for the host Brad Paisley to sing his song “This is Country Music”, which was a beautiful song. Next Rascal Flatts came to the stage to sing “Why Wait”, which was their latest single on the radio and it sounded rather really good. Then The Band Perry sang “If I Die Young” as the show was going to break and announcing who won the awards for the radio stations.

Then Lady Antebellum came to the stage to sing “Hello, World”, which was a beautiful and powerful song. Dierks Bentley sang his latest single “Up On the Ridge”, which was a fun upbeat song. Next was Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson singing a duet on the song “Don’t You Wanna Stay”, which is on Jason’s latest album. Then before presenting the Female Vocalist of the Year award, Sissy Spacek, actress in the film Coal Miner’s Daughter welcomed Miranda Lambert, Sheryl Crow to the stage to sing “Coal Miner’s Daughter”, and near the end of the song Loretta Lynn came out to finish the songs with the ladies. It was a beautiful sight to see and hear. Then before the award for Male Vocalist of the Year, the host Carrie Underwood came out to sing her latest single “Mama’s Song”, which I love and hold true to my heart. The honor of the last song of the night went to Gwyneth Paltrow and Vince Gill singing “Country Strong”, which is from the new movie starring Tim McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow and will be in theaters in January.

So now you know who won the awards and who performed at the CMAs and can start looking forward to the ACAs and the next year of country music.
