Rascal Flatts

Today we are going to talk about the group called Rascal Flatts.  Rascal Flatts is a group that performs country music.  The members of the group are Gary Levox, Jay DeMarcus, and JoeDon Rooney.  The members Levox and DeMarcus are second cousins and then Rooney joined the band when DeMarcus met him in Nashville.  For the group, LeVox does the vocal leads, DeMarcus plays the bass guitar, piano, and backup vocals, and Rooney plays lead guitar and backup vocals.  The trio formed in 1999 under the name Rascal Flatts.  The trio made their debut in 2000 with the single "Prayin’ for Daylight".  Ever since then they have been very popular in the music world.  They have had ton of singles out on radio and many of them have been number 1 on the U.S. Country charts.  They have also come out with many albums.  The group has toured with many different country acts and then in 2004, they headlined their own tour.  Lastly, Rascal Flatts have won many awards in the time since they formed.

 Rascal Flatts has released six albums and a greatest hits album.  They released their first album, Rascal Flatts, in 2000.  Then they did not release their next album, Melt, until 2002.  That album went 2 times and 3 times Multi-Platinum.  Their next albums, Feels Like Today and Me and My Gang, received 5 time Multi-Platinum each.  The next album, Still Feels Good, they release in 2007, which went 2 times Multi-Platinum.  The last album that Rascal Flatts released was Unstoppable and they released it in April last year, which was so far has only gone platinum.  Rascal Flatts is working on their next album, Nothing Like This, which is to be released later this year.

Rascal Flatts has had 27 singles released to the radio.  As, I have said before, Rascal Flatts’ first single released to radio was "Prayin’ for Daylight", which made it to number 1 on the Billboard country charts.  Since then there have been top number one singles on the U.S. Country charts.  Those songs are "These Days", "Mayberry", "Bless the Broken Road", "Fast Cars and Freedom", "What Hurts the Most", "My Wish", "Stand", "Take Me There", "Here, and Here Comes Goodbye".  Since last number one single was released in 2009, but I have high hopes with their new album coming out.

Rascal Flatts have been touring since 2000, where they started touring with Jo Dee Messina.  They have also toured with Brooks and Dunn and Kenny Chesney.  In 2002, Rascal Flatts held their first headlining tour.  They took a couple of years off headlining and toured with other country artists.  Then in 2004, Rascal Flatts came out with the Here’s to You Tour.  Since then, they have toured as a headliner every year with their latest tour being Nothing Like This Tour.

Rascal Flatts has won many awards.  Starting in 2000, they won the ACM’s Top New Vocal Duo or Group Award.  Since then, the trio has won several awards every year, usually they win the ACM Top Vocal Duo or Group. The latest award that the group has received is their Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame awarded this year.  Rascal Flatts has been nominated for the CMA’s Vocal Group of the Year Award.

Lastly, Rascal Flatts has started acting.  Their first acting job was on Yes, Dear in 2006.  Then in 2009, Rascal Flatts appeared in Hannah Montana: The Movie singing a couple songs at Miley’s Grandmother’s house.  In 2010, the group made a guest appearance on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.  In the episode, they were performing a concert and DeMarcus was the victim of a crime and LeVox and Rooney were suspects.  Also in 2010, Rascal Flatts performed on American Idol.  I am very interested to see what the group will do in the coming years.  I am also hoping to get the chance to see them in concert sometime.
